Discover… Discovery Education!

Last week we looked at how technology can help our maths but we also subscribe to another website with LOADS of resources for all curriculum areas and subjects!

It is called www.discoveryeducation.co.uk/ like last week it has a username and password for the school.  Unfortunately the password can’t be put on the blog! The good news is that we all use the same username and password.

Let’s Rock!

We are going to be using http://www.isleoftune.com/ to make some digital music!

To start with we need to create a new island…  This is like a blank page, nothing is on it so it won’t play.

Blank

In musical notation you have a stave, for Isle of Tune you have a road in which to place the music.

Road

The road furniture are the notes, street lamps provide the beat.

Road2

By changing the lights you can adjust what is played! – You do this by pressing on the light.

Road3

Road4

Then by adding a car on to the road the music will play when you press go.  The car will go round in a loop or when it gets to the end, it will turn around and go back.

Road5

Take time to work out how each item works – notes (flowers and bushes) as I would like you to try and write a famous piece of music using this program! I want you to try and write the music to Baa, Baa, Black Sheep!

When the notes move up the note gets higher!  Can you use Isle of Tune to write this music?
